Grandcafé Fanfare
Private Tours let you also experience the beginning of the rise of Giethoorn in public opinion. The village became famous thanks to the Dutch blockbuster The Fanfare.
In the middle of the 20th century many Dutch villages had a fanfare, a marching band, consisting of, among others, the local butcher, greengrocer and doctor who got together regularly to then play music on all kinds of horns and drums. The most famous brass band was based in Giethoorn, thanks to the film The Fanfare released in 1958.
This is one of the most iconic Dutch films ever made and you can catch a whiff of this grand comedy at Grand Cafe The Fanfare. With the musical instruments and other memorabilia from a bygone era on the wall, you will get an impression of Giethoorn's rich musical history. Of course, The Fanfare is one of the regular stops of Private Tours!
